The overarching purpose of consolidating the sterilization functions of the hospital system is to improve the quality of the surgical equipment sterilization process, which directly impacts the standard of care for the MUSC patients. Infection control has rocketed to the top of hospital priorities in all aspects of clinical operations.
This C.S.C. was developed as a 106,500 sf building with a 44,000 sf expansion capability. The building includes 30,000 sf of best-practice sterilization operations, and 74,000 sf of warehouse and office space. The building delivery method also includes all of the sterilization equipment needed to operate the facility.
MUSC had set out to create a state-of-the-art sterilization facility that is like none other in the U.S. It would set the bar and pave the way for sterilization facilities in the future. It has been a privilege to work along side MUSC to provide them with this state-of-the-art facility.
Ground breaking took place in June of 2018 and substantial completion was achieved in June of 2019.
